Rev. Lerthansung was appointed to start the ministry in Nagaland in 1976. Later, Rev. S.R. Tourngam was appointed under whose ministry a church was established in South-East Nagaland. The first baptismal service took place in Shatuza in October 1981; 8 people were baptized. Rev. S.R. Tourngam established 4 churches with 350 members during his time there. After he left for Manipur, the south-eastern region of Nagaland was called the ‘Pochury Mission Field’ and later, in 1990, it became a full-fledged district and became the ‘South-East Nagaland District’.

The capital city of Kohima is still under the Mission Department. The surrounding areas, including the town of Dimapur was removed from the jurisdiction of the Central District and was moved within the Field. The Wokha area too was also a separate field and was called Wokha Field.

Now, the “Wokha Field’ and the ‘Kohima Field’ have been included in the District and are no longer mission fields. The Dimapur area, though, is still included with some parts of the Assam area and was established as the “Dimapur Mission Field” in 1985. There is a Field Director in Dimapur with 4 workers.
