When Bro.Ralsua visited Lunglei town from Niawhtlang village in 1960, he heard the Apostolic Doctrine of Lunglei UPC Church and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. He spread the Apostolic Doctrine when he went home at Niawhtlang village and made the others believe it too. In the year 1961, Pastor C.Hrangliana visited Niawhtlang village and baptized many believers in the name of Jesus Christ and the first UPC Church in the Chhimtuipui area was established in Niawhtlang village. From there on, God showered his blessings and when the district was established fifteen (15) churches were already formed bearing 3116 member. There were twelve (12) churches having church building and 39 license holders were among the members.

Before separating Chhimtuipui District from Lunglei District, Chhimtuipui area were already divided into four (4) Pastoral Sections. The Section Pastors during that time were :

Rev. L.Chunglinga, Tuipang.
Rev. C.Hrangtlinga, Lawngtlai.
Rev. C.Darawia, Sangau.
Rev. H.Halai, Saiha.
Inaugurating Chhimtuipui District :

As the church progressed, members from the Chhimtuipui area wanted to form a new district under the name “Chhimtuipui District” instead of being included in Lunglei District. By that time, the General Superintendent of UPC-NEI, Rev.Harry E.Scism supported the proposal and the Executive Board decided to form a new district. On October 20, 1975 Rev.J.Damhuala, Assistant General Superintendent inaugurated the new Chhimtuipui District in the name of Jesus Christ. The opening of the new district was celebrated with a big feast.
