On September 20, 1961 Rev.Lerthansung was conducting a ministry and many people were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. From that moment the United Pentecostal Church was established at Cachar and Conference was organized at Putikhal on September 5, 1962. Because of the graceful progression of the church, a new district, “Chachar District” was formed on February 19, 1964.

First District Superintendent : Rev. Lerthansung (January 22, 1963 – March 5, 1968).
South West Manipur District :

Because of the ardent workers in the church, a Joint Committee was held on January 18, 1994. This was a preceeding work to have a new district and a District Demand Committee was formed as follows :
Chairman : Upa Rema
Secretary : Bro. Lalropuia

The Committee put up a request for a new district in the Executive Board and accordingly they were given Sub-District on May 28, 1994 with the district headquarter at Ankhasuo. This sub-district was inaugurated by Rev.Lerthansung, the Assistant General Superintendent. On January 14, 1995 agenda was put up in the Executive Board to declare the sub-district to district. Under the acceptance of the Executive Board, Rev.Lerthansung, Assistant General Superintendent gloriously inaugurated the South West Manipur District on May 18, 1996.
