Churachandpur District can be named as one of the most important district in Manipur. It was said that around 1950 the Apostolic Doctrine was first preached in Tipaimukh area in Manipur. The first preachers who preached baptism in the name of Jesus Christ were Evangelist Bawihthanga and Thiangi, Upa Chhuahkhama, Nl.Hmuaki, Pi Rohlupuii and Vawri. Those preachers used to preach in Rovakot and Senvon villages. UPC Church in Manipur was first formed in Rovakot village in 1950 by Thatsung f/o Pastor Sangkhuma, Khuma, Thatneihmang, Zasangvung, Duhkima, Chawnglula and Kawlnu. They were comprised of seven families. Biakkunga who became a Pastor afterward, travelled all the way from Chungtlang village and spent Christmas this very year along with the new believers.
On February 14, 1953, Missionary, Rev.E.L.Scism and Rev.Zakamlova (Mizoram and Manipur District Pastor) went to visit the UPC members in Manipur and took the Meikang road through Tuivai river. On their way, Rev.Scism was injured by a plant called Sazuk-nghawnghlap hrui (mizo language) on his neck inflicting a bruise. The first Rovakot District Conference was held on October, 1953 and District board was formed, appointing the office bearers and board members listed below:
