The General Mission Department was formed in February 25, 1972. The first General Mission Department’s conference was held in March 25, 1983 at Churachandpur Headquarter’s Church.

Ministerial Services

The Mission department process the gospel ministry in the North East India, expanding its realm to other states and even towards the foreign countries which was carried successfully. This can be shown as below :-

  • Tripura :- The United Pentecostal Church formed the Christian Community through the hard work of the Mission Department. Bro. L. Vankhuma, Bro. L. Biaka and Sis. Biakliani were the main founder of this community.
  • Nagaland :- In 1968, Rev. Lerthansung was dispatch to Nagaland for the first time. On October, 1981, eight (8) people were baptized under the ministerial service of Bro. S. R. Tourgam.
  • Arunachal Pradesh :- Sis. Kenter Doji (Sis. Zoramthari), with her earnest zeal started her ministry. She was now employed by the General Mission Department since 1986. With the continuous effort of Sis. Zoramthangi, territory were expended in different places.
  • Assam :- Before the General Mission Department merely pioneered into Assam, Rev. Pansa Leyri, the then Nagaland District Pastor, advanced a ministerial services, formed a new Christian Community among the Boros. This ministry was henceforth taken up by the General Mission Department and expands its territorial domain.
  • Sikkim :- Ministry was started in 1983 by Rev. K. Satinvela and Rev. Lerthansung. A new Christian Community was formed in Gangtok soon after.
  • Bengal :- In 1979, ministry was started. Pastor Christopher and his fellowmen joined the United Pentecostal Church Community which signs the beginning of the gospel ministry. Territorial expansion was made to Darjeeling successfully with the formation of the Christian Community (UPC).
  • Meghalaya :- After the North East India Unit was separated from The Indian Unit, Meghalaya became the General Headquarters. Much services was not displayed for a while but in 1984, Christian Community was formed at the city of Garo Hills, Tura. This area now becomes a Central District.
  • Manipur :- In around 1995, Christian Community (UPC) was formed at Churachandpur and its neighboring places. Later. Another community was formed at Chandel District, among the Anal tribes which is now claimed to be Imphal District.
  • Kolkata :- Ministry was started in Kolkata from 1983. As the area is under the supervision of India Unit, Ministerial Services were ended. Nevertheless the employeewere shifted soon after.
  • Bangladesh :- Ministry was started in 1979, many were baptized. The territory was later bestowed upon the foreign ministry in 2007.
  • Andaman and Nicobar Island :- Ministry was started in 1979, Christian Community was formed evenly. The area was concealed and bestowed upon the Indian Unit. Nevertheless, responsive care could not be taken as which the General Mission Department overtake the responsibility and start a ministry afresh from 2007.
  • Bhutan :- On September 13, 2003, Mission Field was opened. Buddhism is the main religion followed. This causes problems in the pioneering to the country instantly. In 2007, through hardship and zealous effort, Evan. H. Lalnunmawia entered the main country, starting the gospel ministry at once, although forming a Christian Community (UPC) is yet impossible.
  • Nepal :- Ministry was started by Evan. Lalzuithanga with his own zeal, formed the Christian Community (UPC) at the Pokra, the capital city of Nepal. The General Mission Department gave assistance any possible way in this regard. The Area is now bestowed upon the Foreign Missionary.
